Baobab (baobab tree) is a tropical tree belonging to the Bombacaceae family, which grows wild in Africa, Australia and Madagascar. African people call it Magic Tree, Pharmacist Tree and Tree of Life; the name “Baobab” probably comes from the Arabic BUHIBAB (fruit with many seeds). Baobab oil has significant beneficial properties for skin and hair. BENEFITS ON SKIN Burns and scalds: whether they are caused by incorrect exposure to sunlight or by burns of different degrees, it helps alleviate the feeling of discomfort. Red stretch marks: they are scars and therefore cannot be removed with ordinary beauty treatments. However, when they are still red (thus in their early stages), Baobab oil helps reduce their appearance, by preventing them from turning white. It is also useful during pregnancy and breastfeeding to prevent stretch marks and laceration on the breasts. Acne: It is an excellent natural remedy against acne. It helps reduce inflammation, relieves discomfort and prevents further progression. Psoriasis: Reduces itching and helps reduce inflammation. Mycosis: it counteracts skin fungal infections, helping to resolve such conditions as Tinea, athlete’s foot, pityriasis and nail mycosis. Anti-ageing: the quintessential antioxidant, it protects against free radicals and counteracts signs of ageing. Also ideal for dry skin. Contractures: suitable for toning and relaxing massages to relieve muscle soreness and muscle contractures. BENEFITS ON HAIR Baobab oil protects hair from cold, pollution and salt. It nourishes the hair, softening it and making it supple. It can be used both on damp and dry hair. People with oily scalp should use it in very small quantities, prior to drying and only on the ends. It may be applied as a pre-shampoo treatment and as a leave-in treatment for dry, brittle and frizzy hair. METHOD OF EXTRACTION: obtained by cold-pressing the seeds of the Baobab tree (Adansonia Digitata).
